You Are Your Own First Responder
Be authentic and true to your self and your goals. This injury, as catastrophic as it is, still leaves room for us to grow and evolve as human beings. After some time, the injury is merely an inconvenience. The injury opens doors for us that may have otherwise remained closed, or more importantly, door that we didn't even know were there in the first place.
Our goal should be to transcend the injury, not by physical recovery, but by creating relationships and community with those around us and with those that help us reach and become more than we think we are capable. Do not use the disability as a weapon or to leverage relationships, but don't be too hard on yourself either. Believe it or not, you MUST be a DISASTER in order to become the MASTER.
